Drop Everything And Read

Drop Everything And Read is an interesting initiative to encourage everyone in our school community to read.  Every morning, for ten minutes, students and teachers will each read a book or magazine chosen from a box of reading resources.

It's that simple.

The boxes are brought around to each class for the first ten minutes of the day. and everyone chooses something to read.  This campaign will last for six weeks with constant refreshment of the reading material.

According to Oscar Wilde "It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it"

Home Economics Trip

Home Economics Trip

On February 13th, our Leaving Cert students visited the Sarah Bakery Cookery School in Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary.  They spent the day at beautiful Cloughjordan House and were treated to expert tuition in Leaving Cert related practical cookery.

They donned their chef’s hats and spent the day cooking. Among the items prepared were mushroom tarts, cheese twists and seedy brown bread. They sampled their own wares for lunch and afternoon tea.

They also visited Cloughjordan Woodfired Bakery and learned about sourdough, long fermentation, spelt and rye breads. Proprietor, Joe Fitzmaurice, spoke of his passion for natural ingredients and traditional techniques.  They got to see the specially designed wood fired oven that uses local timber as fuel.
