Friday 19th January, 2018.

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

After careful consultation with the Parents Association, the Student Council and Staff, I am dutybound to inform you of changes to our Code of Behaiviour. There are three areas that are impacted: Mobile Devices, Uniform and Smoking.  All students have been informed of impending changes. The changes come into effect on Monday 22nd January 2018 and are listed below:

Mobile devices

Mobile devices and accessories must be switched off at all times on school premises. Mobile devices are only allowed to be accessed with teacher’s permission and specific instructions. Should the mobile device be confiscated it will be turned off, sim card intact, placed in an envelope and given to the Deputy Principal for secure retention. It can be reclaimed after five school days.

Uniform

Students are expected to wear the full school uniform coming to, during and leaving school. Breach of this rule will result in the clothing item being confiscated for a period of five school days.  In exceptional circumstances at the written request of parents/guardians the requirement of full school uniform may be waived for a limited number of days.

Smoking

Smoking (including any nicotine or substance inhalation device) within school grounds, within the vicinity of the school or during school related activities is strictly prohibited and is subject to the following sanctions

  1. First offence  - reflection
  2. Suspension for any reoccurring offences within that academic year.

Parents will be contacted following all breaches of this rule.

I would like to thank you in advance for your support in the matter. If you require any further clarification please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Yours sincerely,

John Nolan

Principal

A sincere thank you to our Science teachers for organising a tour to the 2018 Young Scientist Competition in Dublin on Friday 12th January. First year students really enjoyed the tour and we are hoping that some of our students will work towards entering this competition next year under the guidance of our fantastic teachers.
